The London Listening Bars Redesigning How We Go Out
An alternative to the traditional restaurant model, London’s audiophile movement shows no signs of slowing down. Inspired by the Japanese hi-fi bar concept, a new wave of venues are serving up a blend of curated vinyl, over bespoke sound systems, with a side of small plates. Discover how four new listening bars are changing the way we go out “out”.

Jazu Bar
Jazu’s unique blend of cocktails and a bespoke sound system goes beyond to create a unique experience, with weekly guest chefs serving up an ever-changing menu. Located just off Deptford High Street, on busy summer nights the crowd spills onto the street with long benches for alfresco drinks. The state-of-the-art sound system and design-led DJ booth set Jazu apart from the standard neighbourhood bars, whilst the line-up is as diverse as the menu, with the likes of Awesome Tapes From Africa, Donna Leake and Cami Laye Okun making regular appearances.

Space Talk
Designed by EBBA, Space Talk’s interior gives the mood of a 1970s New York cocktail bar with velvet upholstered walls and walnut wood accents wrapping the space with a warm, vintage feel. Expect an artisan cocktail menu featuring in-house blends, within an ambient listening space. At Space Talk no detail is left unattended, with a bespoke sound system built by Friendly Pressure and speakers designed in collaboration with Lewis Kemmenoe. Stop by at the weekend for nightly vinyl sets and listening sessions.

Hausu
Recently opened right next door to Peckham Rye Station, Hausu brings an appreciation for taste and sound together with the creative spirit of South London. A dedicated listening bar above the main restaurant features ambient lighting and red draped curtains creating an intimate space, with a vintage hi-fidelity sound system playing everything from down tempo to alt-jazz.

Bambi
London Fields’ neighbourhood resturaunt Bambi takes its menu inspiration from Meditteranean flavours, with vinyl DJs soundtracking dinner every night of the week from 8pm. Stop by at the weekend when the tables are cleared from 11pm to make way for the dance floor on Fridays and Saturdays. Expect a blend of soul, disco and rare cuts from East London’s finest vinyl collectors, DJs and broadcasters.
